About Portside Wharf
Portside Wharf is an eclectic urban village, home to waterfront living and a fusion of fine and casual dining, boutique fashion and a range of health and beauty providers.
Home to over 35 retailers, Portside Wharf offers spectacular views and a relaxed atmosphere.
Portside Wharf were experiencing sun-blackout problems with their wayfinding screen and the lack of a proper interactive software platform meant that general public and in particular children were overriding the display content and updating content without proper authorization and playing games such as solitaire on the wayfinder. This caused many headaches and complaints for the centre management.
Metromatics was asked to assist in rectification of the issues being experienced and provide a way forward allowing the display to be operated in a correct manner and in-line with the intent of display.
Metromatics technical staff attended the site and discovered the display was facing directly north, this was resulting in regular daily screen blackouts due to the heating effect of IR on the LCD panel surface. Metromatics recommended the installation of and anti IR film to the front glass. This recommendation was taken up by the client with excellent outcomes and no further reports of screen blackout have been heard.
At the same time Metromatics offered PADS4 from Net Display Systems as a solution for the interactive content manager. The client proceeded with this solution. Metromatics worked with LaunchPADS to deliver the content and end presentation.
LaunchPADS identified several location areas which were not identified by the client as needing direction finding included which were then added. The client has been impressed with the content created by LaunchPADS and the implementation of the package in PADS4 to give them a working interactive wayfinding solution. They have been amazed at the number of people using the wayfinding display.
